MILLENNIAL REIGN DISPROVED

Someone who preaches the millennial reign doctrine stated:
Quote:
The saints followed Christ from heaven to earth to battle the "kings of the earth" (Rev. 19), Christ is said to rule the nations with a rod of iron (Rev. 19), nothing in Revelation 19 or 20 says Christ left earth after defeating the "kings of the earth", and Revelation 20 says the saints "reign with Christ for a thousand years" from a camp that will be surrounded by the "nations of the four quarters of the earth". Revelation 19-20 DOES teach the millennial reign of Christ from earth, with the saints.
End Quote.

This statement is a little complex to refute in one simple sentence; so we will need to break this statement into its parts and deal with them one at a time.

First, Separating the Parts

A.) The saints followed Christ from heaven to earth to battle the "kings of the earth" (Rev. 19),

B.) Christ is said to rule the nations with a rod of iron (Rev. 19),

C.) nothing in Revelation 19 or 20 says Christ left earth after defeating the "kings of the earth",

D.) Revelation 20 says the saints "reign with Christ for a thousand years"

E.) from a camp that will be surrounded by the "nations of the four quarters of the earth".

F.) Revelation 19-20 DOES teach the millennial reign of Christ from earth, with the saints.

This is the parts as I see them; the reader may want to check to see that I left nothing out.

Second, What Is Contained In These Parts?

We will need to first Question them one at a time to see if the individual statements contain errors, or are based on misunderstandings and wrong conclusions. Then we will apply answers to the questions, then put all of the answers into a conclusion.

A.) The saints followed Christ from heaven to earth to battle the "kings of the earth" (Rev. 19),

Q) When do these Saints go to heaven?
ans.) Rev 20:4, The First Resurrection. These are the Firstfruits, James 1:18, Rev 14:4.

Q) When does this battle take place in relation to other End Time Events?
ans.) Daniel 2:33-35, 9:27, 11:45, Mat 24:29-31,

Q) How many groups of Saints are identified in Scripture?
ans.) Three groups

i, Those who come with Him, and

ii, The Last Century Saints who are alive and remain, and

iii, Those who are dead when He Comes, and are resurrected when He comes.

1 Thes 4:14-17

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Those who come with Him, Rev 14:1-5

Q) Who are the two groups identified in Revelation?
ans.) First is "the saints under the throne" Rev 6:9-12

This is the First Century Saints.

9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

ans.) Second is those who "will be killed as they were" Rev 11:7-10 The Two Witnesses

This is the Generation of Christians living at the time of the End.

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

Q) When and how did the saints get to heaven?
ans.) Rev 20:4 James 1:18, Rev 14:4.

The First Century Saints refused to worship the Emperor-god of Rome, and were murdered. Over the next (about) eight hundred (or more) years the Early Christians refused to worship the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, and they were murdered as a testimony of their faith. "I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

This is the first resurrection.

These saints are seen now under the throne in Rev 6:9 and14:1-5.

These are His Firstfruits James 1:18, Rev 14:4

James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Rev 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

B.) Christ is said to rule the nations with a rod of iron (Rev. 19),

Granted: But this does not prove millennial reign.

C.) nothing in Revelation 19 or 20 says Christ left earth after defeating the "kings of the earth",

Actually, that Christ leaves or does not leave earth does not prove millennial reign doctrine; however:

Q) What is the reason Christ does not leave the earth?
ans.) 2 Peter 3:3-12

The Earth is destroyed when He comes. Rev. 11:11-15,

11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

13 And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

14 The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Notice that this scripture does not say that Christ will reign on this earth, or that Christ will reign for a thousand years.

D.) Revelation 20 says the saints "reign with Christ for a thousand years"

Certainly, that is not disputed:

What IS disputed; is,

Q 1) which group of Saints is this?
ans.) His First Fruits, Jas 1:18, Rev 14:4, 20:4
ans.) Those who come with Him, Rev 14:1-5,
ans.) We who remain. Rev 11:1-10

Q 2) Where does this reign occur?
ans.) Those who are under the throne reign now with Him Rev 6:9, 14:1-5.

Q 3) When did this reign begin?
ans.) The first resurrection: Rev 20:4-5
ans.) The final resurrection: Rev 20:11-12

E.) from a camp that will be surrounded by the "nations of the four quarters of the earth".

Q) Which group of saints is it gathered in the Camp at Jerusalem?
ans.) We who remain... 1 Thes 4:14-17
ans.) The two witnesses, Rev 11:7-10

Q) When is this gathering of the Saints in Jerusalem?
ans.) After the Abomination Mat 24:21

F.) Revelation 19-20 DOES teach the millennial reign of Christ from earth, with the saints.

CONCLUSION

No, Revelation does NOT teach the millennial reign of Christ on earth.

Just before The End and the Coming of the Lord, Satan will establish [Modern Rome] his kingdom. Dan 7:25 And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time. Rev 13:1-5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.

Satan's kingdom will not last long. Dan 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Dan 9:27 (KJV) And he [Christ, by the gift of the Holy Spirit] shall confirm the [New] covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he [Satan] shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he [Satan] shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Dan 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

The Lord Comes and Satan is Defeated

Rev 11:15 says The Kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord. This event, the defeat of earth's ruler, Satan, and the conquest of earth by Christ takes place at the seventh Trumpet. "And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

When does the battle of Rev 19 occur relative to Rev 20?

They are the same event. Rev 19:19-20, the Last Battle

19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Rev 20:9-10, the Last Battle
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

At the coming of the Lord, on the Day of God, the Day of the Lord (2 Peter 3:3-12) The earth is consumed in fervent heat. This event occurs at the same time as the events of the six and seventh Seals, the Seventh Trumpet and Seventh Vial.

THE END

It seems that the best way to do this may to start at the end and work toward the present.

"The End" is when all has been fulfilled and there is nothing which remains of End Time Prophecy to be accomplished. "This generation shall not pass away until all is fulfilled." Mat 24:34. By the Word of God, spoken by Christ Himself, All End Time Events He Described Must Be Fulfilled in One Generation!

This "End of Earthly Events" is depicted in the Sixth Seal Rev 6:12-17, the Seventh Trump, Rev 10:7, 11:15, the Last Trump 1 Cor 15:52, the Trump of God, 1 Thes 4:16, the Seventh Vial, Rev 16:17-21. These events are also depicted in Mat 24:29-31, 2 Peter 3:3-12, Daniel 2:33-35, 9:27, 11:45 Isa 27:13.

The Lord comes at the end of that list of events He described in Mat 24:7-10, 15, 21, 29-31.

The Lord will come on the Day of The Lord, the Day of God. 2 Peter 3:3-12

The Saints come with Him when He comes. 1 Thes 4:14, Rev 14:1-5

They would have to be with Him now in order to come with Him when He comes. They are with Him now, and are seen under the throne. Rev 6:9-11. In order to be with Him now, and come with Him when He comes, these Saints must be His Firstfruits (James 1:18) and beneficiaries of the first Resurrection. Rev 20:4

When the Lord comes, those who are living in Christ will be transformed. (1 Cor 15:50-54, 1 Thes 4:4-17.) These who remain are described as "those who must be killed as we (the first century Christians) were." Rev 6:9-11, Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

When the Lord comes, those who are dead in Christ will be resurrected. 1 Thes 4:14-17, Rev 11:9-11

11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

When the Lord comes, there will be a remnant of Christians waiting in the hills surrounding Jerusalem. The Armies of the World will have come to Armageddon to destroy these Saints.

These Saints are The Two Witnesses seen in Revelation 11:7-15, and are those who flee from the Abomination, as warned by Mat 24:15-21.

When the Lord comes, Satan will be defeated and cast into the lake of fire. Rev 19:19-20. This is the same event as depicted in Rev 20:9-15

When the Lord comes (Mat 24:29-31 and 2 Peter 3:3-12) the dead will be resurrected and this world will be destroyed in fervent heat. The saved of earth will ascend into heaven and to the new heaven and earth; and the beast, the false prophets and the lost will be cast into the lake of fire.

In other words: How It Ends

About 3 1/2 years after Modern Rome comes to rule the Modern World, Satan will proclaim himself to be "God," and will begin to murder Christians who refuse to worship Him. Those events will mark the midst of Daniel's 70'th Week. Then, after Three and a half years of terror, war and destruction, while God pours out the vials of His Wrath on the Beast's Kingdom, The End will come.

When the Lord comes he will bring those who were resurrected in the First Resurrection with Him, (1 Thes 4:14-17, Rev 20:4) and those of us who remain alive in the hills around Jerusalem will be transformed (Mat 24:15-16, 1 Cor 15:50-54) and the dead will be resurrected. (Rev 11:7-15, 18) We who remain and we who are resurrected will rise to meet the Lord and the First Century Saints who come with him. (Mat 24:31, Rev 14:1-5) Satan and his armies will be defeated, and, with the false prophets and those who rejected God and His Son, will we cast into the lake of fire. (Rev 19:19-21, 20:9-15) This earth and the physical universe will be destroyed in fervent heat, and we will inherit the new heaven and earth. 2 Peter 3:3-12, Rev 21:1-7- and others.

There will be no "rapture," no "millennial reign."

This generation shall not all pass away until all the prophecy of the coming of the Lord is finished.

In the words of John, "Even so, Lord, Come."

Propheices of Days and Times

Dan 7:25, 8:14, 9:27, 12:10-12. Rev 11:3, 9-11, 13:5.

A graph of the Prophetic Times given by Daniel and Revelation.

Remember the example of the people of Berea. Acts 17:10-11. Those who love Truth will compare all the events which are described as part of the coming of the Lord, and ask Him for understanding.

As Daniel said, "at the time of the end the wise will understand." The Wise are those who fear God, for "the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom."

Ask; It Is Time.
